Multiple Opinions Service

Considering surgery? You’ve been told you need it. Now what?

Get opinions from qualified surgeons on your case — starting at no cost. Compare them side-by-side using fair scores that account for how complex each case was — then choose. You stay in control of every decision.

You’re not alone in this decision. We help you compare opinions on substance — not advertising.

Three steps. You’re always in control.

Conditions are often managed by more than one specialty — and some have less invasive options. Multiple opinions give you a clearer picture of what’s really right for you.

1

Submit your case

Tell us the procedure you’re considering. Share your relevant medical records — we’ll guide you on what to send, or we can chase them for you.

2

Surgeons render opinions

Multiple surgeons — each verified through a rigorous evaluation — review your case and give their independent opinions, alongside their outcomes scores.

3

You choose

Compare opinions side-by-side with each surgeon’s results. Your surgeon, your decision, always.

Pick the lane that fits you

Both lanes deliver the same independent surgeon opinions and the same outcomes-validated comparison. The difference is who chases your records.

Self-Serve

Start Self-Serve →

Best when you already have your records, or you’re comfortable requesting them yourself. You can upgrade to Concierge anytime.

Either lane — same opinions, same outcomes-validated comparison. Concierge is faster because we chase records for you. If you start Self-Serve and decide you want help, you can upgrade anytime.

Tell us about your case

Takes about 8–10 minutes. You can submit on behalf of a loved one. Identity verification happens after you submit — not now.

How it works — in detail

A closer look at what happens at each step, so you know exactly what to expect.

1

Tell us the procedure you’re considering

You’ll receive HIPAA Release and Terms of Service forms via DocuSign — by text message or email, whichever is easier for you. Sign them and we can begin.

2

Gather and share your relevant medical records

By law, your records belong to you. We’ll tell you exactly what to ask for and how to send it.

Self-Serve: you (or a loved one helping you) request records from your doctors, hospitals, and imaging facilities. Concierge: we send the requests for you and follow up until they arrive.
3

Multiple surgeons render opinions on your case

Each is verified through our rigorous evaluation. They review your records and give their independent opinion in plain language, alongside their outcomes scores.

4

You receive each opinion side-by-side

Compare on substance, not advertising. Plain language summaries you can share with your First Opinion Surgeon or take wherever you need.

5

You decide who — and whether — to proceed

Your surgeon, your decision, always. We deliver the information; you make the call.

Want to speed things up?

If you have these on hand, please share them — it dramatically shortens the time to receiving opinions:

  • Your most recent surgeon visit office note
  • Your CT, MRI, or other imaging study — including both the actual DICOM files AND the radiology report
The DICOM files are the most important. They are the actual imaging data — what your surgeons need to evaluate your case accurately. The radiology report alone is not enough.

Don’t have the DICOM CD? DICOM files are typically given to you as a CD by the radiology facility where your imaging was performed. You have the right to request your imaging records from any facility — you’ll simply sign a HIPAA release.

What you get

In either lane, the deliverable is the same.

  • Multiple opinions from surgeons who have completed a rigorous evaluation
  • Risk-adjusted outcomes scores for participating surgeons
  • A clear, plain-language view of what those results actually mean
  • Your records handled privately, only with your permission
  • You choose — your surgeon, your decision, always
  • SMS & email updates so you’re never wondering where things stand

Sample — opinions side-by-side, with outcomes

This is how you’ll see your opinions. Each surgeon’s opinion appears alongside their results — so you can compare on substance.

13 careful steps

Choose on results, not marketing

SurgiQuality was built by surgeons. We score surgeons on fair, validated outcomes designed to match recognized quality standards — so you can see who truly excels at your procedure. Every surgeon’s results go through 13 careful steps. We don’t take shortcuts.

Independently checked

Scores aren’t what surgeons say about themselves. They come from real case data — checked the same way insurers and hospitals check.

Fair comparison

We adjust for how complex each surgeon’s cases were — and for the patients’ other health conditions — so the comparison is honest.

Founder

Sanjay Prasad, MD, FACS

A practicing surgeon for decades and author of Resetting Healthcare. I built SurgiQuality because patients deserve to choose surgeons on results — not on advertising or who you happened to be referred to.

Already have a surgeon in mind?

Ask them to sign up — so you can see their results too

If you’ve already seen a surgeon — or are considering one specifically — invite them to join SurgiQuality at no cost. Once they’ve completed our evaluation, you’ll see their validated outcomes alongside any other opinions you receive.

Your privacy comes first

Security and privacy are extremely important to us. Your information is shared only in a de-identified manner, and only with surgeons licensed in your state. Every step, only with your permission.

Frequently asked questions

How much does this cost?

Self-Serve is free. The Concierge upgrade is $149 (non-refundable) and covers our coordination labor when we request records on your behalf. Provider fees for record copies are passed through at cost — we never mark them up. We do not bill insurance for either lane.

How long does it take?

Most patients receive their opinions within 2–3 weeks after we have your complete medical records. We work as fast as we can — but we’d rather get it right than rush it. The faster records arrive, the faster you get your opinions. Concierge reaches complete faster because we chase records for you.

Don’t wait if your condition is worsening

If your condition cannot wait or worsens during the review window, proceed with your First Opinion Surgeon. Your safety comes first. Our service does not replace urgent medical care.

Who sees my information?

Only surgeons who are licensed in your state. Identifying details about you are removed before any surgeon sees your case — they see the medical facts, not your name. Every step is taken only with your permission.

What if I don’t have my medical records?

If you’re on Self-Serve, you (or a loved one helping you) will request them. By law, you have the right to your medical records from any doctor, hospital, or imaging facility that has treated you. We’ll tell you exactly what to ask for, who to ask, and what’s most important. Most facilities respond within a few business days. If you’d rather have us do it, upgrade to Concierge.

Most important of all: if you’ve had imaging — a CT, MRI, ultrasound, or X-ray — ask the imaging facility for the CD with the DICOM files (the actual image data). The radiology report alone is not enough. Surgeons need to look at the actual images to give you a real opinion on your case.

Will my First Opinion Surgeon know I’m getting other opinions?

Only if you choose to tell them. Getting additional opinions is your right as a patient — and it’s perfectly normal for major decisions like surgery. We do not contact your First Opinion Surgeon unless you ask us to.

Are opinions guaranteed?

Surgeon review is voluntary. You may receive zero, one, or several opinions depending on case complexity, specialty match, and surgeon availability. We do not promise a specific number. We deliver opinions verbatim — we do not summarize or editorialize the clinical content.

I’m submitting for my parent / spouse / adult child. Is that OK?

Yes. The intake form has a section for proxies and guardians. You’ll be asked your relationship to the patient and what legal authority you hold. The records and opinions belong to the patient.

I live outside the United States. Can I still use this?

Yes. We welcome international patients. Many patients abroad come to U.S. surgeons for outcomes-validated care.

Will you bill my insurance?

No. We don’t bill insurance. The service is patient-pay (or free in the Self-Serve lane). Your insurance is not used or affected by submitting your case.

What kinds of procedures qualify?

Most surgical procedures — from a small procedure to a major operation. If you’ve been told you may need surgery, we can help. If you’re not sure your case fits, call us at and we’ll tell you.

Can I upgrade from Self-Serve to Concierge later?

Yes. If you start Self-Serve and decide you want help, you can upgrade by paying the $149 fee. The intake stays the same — only the records chase shifts to us.

Can the reviewing surgeon do my surgery?

Some can, some cannot — depending on insurance, state licensure, and their own availability. If a reviewing surgeon is willing and able to perform your procedure, they will note that in their opinion. You are not obligated to choose them.

I’m not sure how to get started. Can someone walk me through it?

Yes — call us at Mon–Fri, U.S. business hours, or email [email protected]. A real person will guide you through every step. There’s no rush, no pressure.

Need help getting started?

We’re here. A real person — not a robot — will answer.
